What is the DAR?
The DAR was founded October 11, 1890, and currently has over 185,000 members in over 3,000 chapters located in the United States and around the world. The DAR is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and is a volunteer women’s service organization whose members lineally descend from a patriot of the American Revolution. DAR’s mission is to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
Is the DAR a partisan organization?
No, the DAR is not affiliated with any political party.
Is there a place in the DAR for someone like me?
The DAR is for women as young as 18, of all races, religions, and ethnic backgrounds. Some chapters, such as this one, hold some of their chapter meetings in the evenings so that working or career women will have an opportunity to attend.
What are the benefits of joining DAR?
